You got this man!

progress update,
slowly working my way thru cleaning up the tris to quads mess,
blender did a real number messing up the edges,
fixed up the spine area to function like a normal model,
still have to figure out how to get the genitals to work,
I'm assuming shapekeys will be the way to go since it'll be for vrc, but I'll let you guys decide if that's the best option.
Still need to rig the tongue and also fix the jaw since the bone for that is in the wrong spot.
That's all for now.

appreciate the update, great job so far.

AWESOME!!

Update time again
cleaning up the rest of the body and hair took longer than expected, but it's done
only parts left to clean up are the armor pieces on the arms/ legs and the optional accessories
After that it's onto adding in shapekeys so she works in VRC
And if anyone knows how to get models ported over to vrc let me know
We can dm back and forth so I don't end up posting a bunch of updates

When you said clean up, what did you mean?
Was the mesh too dense? -

By clean up I mean reducing the amount of triangle geometry.
Doing so improves overall performance in blender and will allow me to work on the model easier with fewer unnecessary edges.
The model itself doesn't lose any of it's detail in the process. It's mostly about being able to make the necessary adjustments so it can be ported over to VRC with the least amount of problems I can avoid.
I can elaborate further if you want me to. -

From this i would assume you had to delete some vertices and restructure again right?
Being a triangle into square mesh if you had to reduce?

@Sirlockinbottom
no vert deletion required thankfully.
only dissolve edge to make two triangles into one square.
blender has a built in system to help automate the process, but it's far from perfect.
a large portion of time is dedicated to rotating the incorrectly dissolved edges into the correct ones.
Think of it as drawing a bunch of diagonal lines in a sheet of grid paper.
That's the state the model was in with the raw imported mesh.
Then erasing part of the horizontal lines. A grid still exists, but it's not flowing the right way.
That's what the automated system does in some areas.
I then had to manually rotate each incorrect edge to line back up properly on the grid so the edge loops make sense and don't end up spiraling around half of the model.
I hope that clears some of it up.
If not, I can put together a brief visual example tomorrow sometime.
