it's definitely that there are animations in the FX layer affecting the blendshapes since you mentioned there are toggles that change the face.
what i usually do to fix it is make an animation with keyframes corresponding to all the edit's i've made and then i just copy-paste them to the animation that is affecting the default state. this work with gesture animations that reset the facial features as well.

seems to be related to the locomotion layer, but still no clue on how to replace it

it didnt have the pp and sil sounds on the blendshapes but now I just added random ones that were close enough. For some reason in my brain I thought it would work without all of them. Thank you so much ;w; lmao
