How to set up PCSS?
-
@HarleyQuinnVR Interesting, I know this might be obvious but, have you tried removing PCSS and reimporting it?
-
@HarleyQuinnVR When ingame, do you get the PCSS menu in your expressions?

@HarleyQuinnVR What you can try if you haven't yet is clearing the shader cache in the PCSS tool; So instead of pressing setup, select the third option "Clear Shader Cache" you shouldn't need to re setup
-
I'll attempt to make the setup as easy as possible in five steps for anyone who is having issues installing PCSS:
What you require:
-
The most recent or comparatively more recent iteration of Poiyomi/Poiyomi Toon or Liltoon
-
The most recent or comparatively more recent version of PCSS
SETUP:
Step 1 : Import the main shader (such as Liltoon or Poiyomi) that you want to utilize with PCSS.Step 2: Import your PCSS.
Step 3: Select "PCSS for VRC" from the "nHaruka" tab at the top where "File, edit, SDK," etc., are located.
Step 4: Drag your avatar from the Hierarchy into the top box. Once you get to the check box after dragging your avatar, If your avatar has WriteDefaults, keep it checked; if not, uncheck it.
Step 5: Press the large button at the bottom to then select the setup button.
ta-da you now have PCSS
hope you find this helpful

@jaxoy I can only get PCSS to work if I disable VRCFURY and NDM/Modular Avatar on Import. Which means I can't use either when constructing my avatar..which I never do nowadays XD PCSS is buggy with VRCFURY/MA for me. If you have the issue I have where it works on scene but doesn't in play mode nor in VRChat then that is probably the culprit.

The tab "nHaruka" no longer shows up, anyone know what's causing this? I have reimported it many times AND started a new project with it.

@teapotts
If talk about PCSS for liltoon - old versions of PCSS is not working anymore with liltoon version past 1.10.3. You need latest version of PCSS.

@AnonyMelonyz I know this reply is late and probably not needed, but in case anyone has issues with PCSS lights flickering on the avatar when putting your height past 1.50m in VRChat: that is normal and intended because of how PCSS is optimized.
You have the option to disable this though at the cost of getting some slightly worse performance: first of all, go to your Hierarchy and go to [Your Avatar] -> SelfLight -> AimSphere -> PhysBoneBase -> Sphere -> Spot Light. This object has a "Light" component on it, keep it there.
Now go to your Assets in the folder view, and open the nHaruka -> PCSS4VRC folder. You'll find a file called "ShadowCullingOff". Now drag this file onto the "Light" component of the "Spot Light" object you found earlier. You have to drag it exactly onto the top bar that says "Light" by the way: you won't see any changes directly, but this basically turns off the optimization that PCSS is applying.Again, I'm posting this just in case anyone looks this up in the future and finds this thread ahahah

Hi, I need help with the PCSS plugin! Please help me!
When I import PCSS into Unity and run it in the Editor, everything looks perfect. But once I upload the model into the game, the screen starts flashing badly—it’s really scary, and I have to turn it off immediately.
In other test models, the result becomes extremely dark, even though I really love the look of PCSS.
Is there any other solution I can try? I really need help! -
what i'am doing wrong liltoon 2.3.2 pcss lil 8.4.2, with PCSS 9.0.6 same issue, tried liltoon 2.1.0 with 9.0.6. i'm using vrcfury and modular.
@edit nevermind it was SPS lolipop. i just needed to exclude these.
