Well that. A bit about the situation. Our sysadmin is, of course, quite the klutz. He messed up with security, even though he claimed he was working on improving it. But in the end, it turned out to be the exact opposite — they hacked in and simply deleted all the files from all the servers. After seeing that, I laughed at our sysadmin for a long time.T
o be honest, the files can be recovered. But it will take a lot of time and will be very tedious. I’m not even sure whether it’s worth taking on. And I’m not sure we’ll be able to recover everything at all.
There is a backup of the main website, as well as the file server. However, it’s not the most up‑to‑date one and isn’t from the current date (the beginning of the month). But the situation with the file server is exactly the opposite — it’s in a deplorable state. And the backup there was made a long time ago. After all, the volumes there are very large in TB.
So far, the situation is as follows:Everything has been deleted. All files. The system administrator was sent packing and kicked out of the team. Well, for now I’ve given up and thrown in the towel.I don’t even see the point in doing anything. I’m thinking of just closing the project and not bothering with it. After all, even the working project caused a lot of headaches. In any case, I’ll be thinking about this until evening. If I don’t decide to restore everything, we’ll just abandon the project. That’s how things stand.
@anonymous_001 pls don’t just give up a lot of really do appreciate vrmodels especially people who barely knew how to upload but was taught because of vrmodels

@w-a-h If you've opened it and it is a group that takes your info, you might already be a bit screwed but still try to stay off of it. Please spread my message tho, this stuff should be taken seriously for everyone's safety.

;-; This is a sad time, its the Kemono incident all over again. I hope we are able to get it back or at least recreate a new one. It was nice to have a site that had vrchat models and a few world files, but yes ripperstore is nice due to how close-knit the community is and most of the time the links stay forever. Good luck VRmodels

honestly thats fine, the staff was incredibly unhelpful, outright rude.. and confusingly banning people,labeling,etc?
website was poorly managed overall, they had plenty of time to fix it but couldn't recognize that

It's unfortunate, I liked to use the site along with this site to see whats new. I do agree the moderators on the VRModels site are... unhinged at times, especially with their labelling, but it will be a massive shame to see the site be shut down as I've used that site for 5+ years now.
I hope they're able to bring it back online, although there's definitely a lesson to be learnt here - ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR SHIT (and if you are, back it up more frequently!) If they can't bring it back, then it was a good run whilst it lasted.

idk abt yall but some of the shit posted on there is just grosss@pikachuu That's because you got thousand of thousands of posts, you'll obviusly find some stuff that you wouldn't like, that's why you just... ignore it and keep searching for something you like

@janesunglasses you see heres why i despise VRM people click on post they dont like and Spam the coment section talking shit. instead of moving on. and right here is a prime example brand new user registered here clearly from vrm already saying stuff arte gross. do you think those items arent here? ofcourse they are. All of em. where do you think things are shared before they hit vrm? here. because we share download what we want and like say thanks and move on. we dont click on post we dont like and start a hate war or kink shaming like ew whos the target audience ew whats this for ew people gross ewew like everyone in vrm act like children. so belive me pikachu you aint safe here either.

For all the vrm refugees, if you want the simplicity of vrm back heres what you do: Go to jinxxy, use it to find avatars you like similar to vrm, 90% of the time its leaked on here, so use jinxxy as ur serach engine and use this as ur pirate bay

@KingHastur the only issue with that is it ISNT 90% of the time, if i go on vrm i can see what avis HAVE been leaked but on here theres actually a 90% chance ill find someone who actually made a post for it but it hasnt been leaked yet (NOT HATING!!) but that method is kinda exactly what i do now... miss vrm

@mochii15 yeah kind of have to agree. i love the work that this sites mods do and same goes for the community but vrm even if it's community sucked (I always found the people having a flame war in the comments annoying too especially if special instructions had been left in the comments) it was nice knowing almost everything on the site worked with only extremely rare broken unitypackages being the exception. along with that there were a good hand full of avatars that as of current aren't on ripper store with super new avatars and avatar accessory's being big ones. my hope is that if vrm really is gone for good we get the same people who uploaded new avatars on the spot and weird or niche accessories that used to get uploaded almost exclusively on there uploading over here, but that isn't a guarantee and that does kind of suck.
