I've been trying to figure out how to add different eye materials to this Airi model, but I keep getting a white overlay over the face. I don't want to just place the eye texture straight into the Airi body material. Can anyone guide me on how to add new eyes? Thanks!

So, typically, the new eyes get pasted right onto the avatar's face texture. First, make sure to back up the original face texture. Then, open it in any image editing software you like and paste the new eyes over the old ones. After that, just import the edited face texture into Unity (drag and drop works) and place it into the face material.
