Divide all forums into pages that the user can select manually

As far as I understand, this system already kinda exists on the forum. It loads topics in chunks as the user scrolls the page.
However, as soon as the tab reloads, it doesn't save the user's previous "progress", and all topics are loaded from the beginning. Therefore, if the user wants to continue viewing older topics, they have to scroll all the way down.
Because of this, manually discovering old topics that haven't been bumped in a while is currently very difficult.
I think a system that allows the user to manually select pages with topics will solve this issue

Getting fed up of having to scroll through the same posts each visit? When you register for an account, you'll always come back to exactly where you were before, and choose to be notified of new replies (either via email, or push notification). You'll also be able to save bookmarks and upvote posts to show your appreciation to other community members.
