Nails help
-
Hey there, new to posting on this forum but I thought this would be a good place to ask. I tried to get some nails onto my model but since these ones don't work with modular avatar I'm not entirely sure how to set these up properly. I tried dragging each nail to the correct area on my models armature, I tried merging armature, but each time the nails will simply float above my avatar's hands or in mid air.
The MD nails are the most confusing to me since the prefab seems to come all bunched together... For reference here are the two nail sets I was working with.

If the nails do not include Hips, Spine, Chest, etc and only have the exact bones that they use then Modular Avatar wouldn't work, that could be the case for the that. You say you tried to drag them onto the armature where they need to go. If you added every single bone that the nails use onto the corresponding bones of your armature it should in theory work perfectly but perhaps you are missing one particular thing. Could you be not using all the bones included with the nails?
How exactly did you do this, could you provide screenshots? -
My assumption is you're doing all of this in unity.
My answer to doing this in unity, instead of blender is: DON'T.
@bdawg is correct about that. If they are not the exact bones that they use from the model's armature mutually to the nails' armature, they're not going to merge correctly. If you are dragging each and every bone that the nails use to the corresponding bone of your model's armature, they are again, right. It SHOULD work. But I read the description of the MDollnail, the item IS compatible with Modular. My theory is, you're using a prefab of the nails that are meant for a different model. If not, let me know. If MA's setup just genuinely isn't working for you, reading more into the description of the MD nails, try this. https://anlabo.world/manual/
HOWEVER, you can dig deeper in their twitter if you need further help.
