Can a creator tell if I give files to a friend?

Recently I bought an avatar but at the same time when I bought it my PC became unable to upload so I started to wonder if I could maybe put the files on transfer or mega then get my friend to download it and upload it for me and will the creator be able to tell? The files won't be mass leaked everywhere only given out to a friend I'm not in the mood to pay for a upload or to get banned they don't have anything to protect they're work from what it says {Hope I put this in the right category}

Depends on the avatar and if you'd be giving that friend your login information to upload it to your account. If you filled out your vrchat information on the purchase page you'd need to upload it to your account or your friend would get in trouble (they may DMCA it or just blacklist their vrchat account and any other accounts attached that they find link to said friend) and if the model you purchased doesnt have many sales then the creator would likely be able to figure out who shared it (or find who to be suspicious of) based off of any information you have connected to the info provided during purchase (ie you provided a discord name and the uploader has their discord linked on their vrchat profile, all it would take is a friend request and it'll show that you and said upload are friends)

@Myong How exactly can they tell? Can they see they downloaded it somehow or can they see it was uploaded to mega?

depending on the site it'll email them when someone's downloaded the file from the storepage but they wont know it's been shared unless someone who's info doesnt match any provided from their customers uploads it or is seen using the files in some way. you could upload it to an external site and share that with your friend but if they upload it to their own account and not yours the creator will know they somehow got ahold of files they werent meant to have, thats where alot of creators catch who may have leaked it by digging into that user and finding who they're friends with that purchased the model
