Hair combos and textures?

I have no idea if I'm going to sound stupid with this I might just be missing something completely obvious

I've been slowly working on a Sio edit since she came out, and I wanted to make a hair combo for her (something I've personally never done before!)

but my problem is that different creators have different textures + colours that come with their hairs and I can't figure out for the life of me how people get them all to the same colour + texture?

Whenever I try to edit the colours it never looks exactly right- or the actual hair texture is different and looks off.

How do people make it look the same? Is there a specific application/editing software that's good for this or am i doing something completely wrong? (or maybe i'm just not good at it )

i used to struggle with that until i learned about liltoon's base texture settings(gamma, saturation etc), you can edit it realtime so its pretty easy for me to get the exact color without the use of Photoshop and similar. Copying and pasting/tweaking it to the same shadow settings (esp border and strength) also is crucial, and making sure they have the same components in general like rim light or outline(on/off). If using gamma etc make sure to set the texture quality to 'NO compression' otherwise it will create weird artifacts that are noticeable.

Also you could try Editing their Uv maps in blender to fit an image texture of choice! Thats how i usually make my hairs and textures match, although it will change the overall look/texture and can be slightly tricky to get it looking seamless!
