i knew godfall was a fishy ass person (bum tss) this entire thread was a doozy to read and honestly solidified my guesses. i'm a little sad because i have bought some of the addons for the fish game and honestly they arent even that worth it to begin with. i was thinking about supporting them but the only thing you get is a lame ass white trail for your hook. like what would even be the point.
i was also really upset when they took flying away because most of the boats suck, only the 200k and 1M one are okay but its so hard to make money. im over level 100 in that game and i just got enough to buy the best purchasable rod. now im gonna need to grind 30+ more levels to afford the best boat. thats way too many hours grinding, especially for someone who has a full time job it just feels impossible to get anything. even IMO the new st. patricks day event is way too expensive for just skins of already existing things. 600k for a auto pet skin is crazy work. thats almost as much as my rod was. the only people who succeed in this game are no lifers and cheaters. its exhausting.
side note; can i get some help with rep so i can finally downvote these white knights and weirdos in the threads

I dont think this is at all worth getting upset over, if you arent the OP... the OP has a right to be upset but also took it way too far, considering this is a map on a video game lmao. you dont have to play on that world, and yeah; VRChat is a business as well as a game. The game clearly took off, and giving them a couple of settings that are fairly exclusive isn't the end of the world. I recognize that vrchat is predominately user generated content, and that you want to keep things in a sandbox state in order to utilize OTHER user generated content; I do not understand how we cannot just respect the rules of the fishing game and perhaps fly or use seats in some other world. By design, there is transportation in world pertaining to in game progression. They are working on flying as well. If your complaint is that those features are behind a wall of progressing, you just don't have to partake in the game. It's that easy. If THAT many people cared, the population would surely drop to the point where they revert those things. Also, flying is kinda cringe in general unless you have like a dragon avatar or something. But yeah, if you wanna play the game, play by the rules. You don't get to create the rules unless you create the game. Plain and simple.

@DeepAbyss hit level 101 last night, had the 200k boat by level 30. got my endgame rod last night. completed all of the quests even tho I never touched the alien rod. perhaps you bought too much stuff during the journey and it slowed you down? I bought 5 rods, 3 bobbers, and 3 lines throughout that journey. Mainly went Luck heavy on my build.

@Fur-Fennec On Desktop, open VRC once on Steam with all your relics and enter a Fish instance. Then go to your VRC Folder and open it again using the launch.exe then join another Fish instance.
In the first instance do your rolls and keep the 2nd one as backup.

has anyone figured out the unlimited scrap exploit? I keep hearing about it in the fish discord, but obviously don't mention how it's done. I have the scrap detector on my avatar, and I figured out 2 ways to re-run the same artifacts, but I haven't figured out how to increase the amount of scrap aside from the daily 12

@vidriox85, for the artifacts, it's just a question of messing with vrchat persistance, either with double entry or internet interference. but I am asking everyone here if any of them have figured out a way to get more scrap than what is normally offered by the game

@unityenjoyer nope! ive never bought anything but the 15k starter rod, bought the 200k boat for traveling. then saved up for Rod of the Pharaoh, Diamond Line, and Rainbow Slime Bobber. got allthose 3 by level 100 ish. i was saving up for the st. patricks day event but i only have 470k after grinding for 2 days. i have a job so i can only spend 5 ish hours in the game. its very unfriendly for casual players.

@DeepAbyss I work 60 hour weeks, do photography on the side, and play maybe 2 hours a night as I'm working in blender and unity. Going from starter to Pharaoh sounds like torture. Fortunate rod would have gotten a great ROI while grinding for the Pharaoh. But yeah, the game is going to be around for the foreseeable future. Patricks day event being a limited time event. i have noticed they did lower the prices but when i commented the prices where still really high and hard to grind out from the time i only had to dedicate into the game. So im not really sure where that part has come from. i was more saying there is a lot to grind out and if i didnt go from starter to end rod i would be even more far behind with money. the fishes doesnt really give you much. 5 hours of grinding and i only made 190k is not a lot imo.

I believe your FOMO should be definitely addressed within yourself. A lot of games with predatory monetization prey upon people with it. This game doesn't at all have to be rushed. Luckily a lot of the things you do get is pretty mid to ass as skins, and everything you can get that is useful is available always. If this game did introduce time-based paid content this would be a problem for you as well as other FOMO-susceptible players. I would not be surprised because VRChat saw this game as one of their many opportunities to push their shitty credits system.
They want to be Roblox so bad but they dont realize that Roblox is also losing money. That's why theyre pushing so hard on marketplace. I wouldn't be surprised if they introduced paid-entry worlds too.
As for this game in particular even if you miss out on the ST Paddy's items you are losing out on skins you will use less than 1 month out of the year, even less so with such a busy schedule. Not such a bad thing considering you have a random chance to just straight up lose all your persistence data since VRChat wasn't meant to handle actual game-like content and large data blocks.
TL;DR I would not worry about this event too much aside from the incredibly large XP gain from the shamrocks

Ok! so I actually just learned how to open vrcw files in unity finally... I thought I was going to need to ask someone for help but I just needed to look harder.
So it turns outs, these are actually different models, they don't seem to share much geometry with the actual ripped Animal Crossing New Horizon models as it turns out.
As someone who has made custom from scratch avatars, it just seems to be case that they possibly 'traced' or just modeled around the other model. I dont think Nintendo is going to be able to do much about this.
I still hold the opinion that the designs are incredibly lazy and unoriginal though, but it does appear legally district enough.
@RobotCat I suspected something like this too.
The model is incredibly basic, enough so that recreation would be easier as well as safer for their team. They have people on there who know how to do this stuff so there's genuinely no reason for them to steal directly. Doing so would be incredibly foolish, if it turns out they did steal any of it I wouldn't be surprised. It is ran by VRC-ers after all.
I still think its pretty dumb for them to name their shader "AnimalCrossingShader". Even though it is an internal name only and wouldn't appear while playing its just bad practice. A lot of the other stuff inside the project has similar poorly named stuff.
Probably fixed it in new updates to the world but I wouldn't know. I'm only going off stuff I saw from the vrcw file

@uniquevr You can use an avatar decompiler and it will work for the most part but the shaders will be fucked and none of the scripts will be there. just the .asset files and some rudimentary shaders

i was just simply saying if the LIMITED TIME events are short and not long enough for players with limited time to grind its kinda sucks for casual players. thats literally all. thats not my fomo thats just a thing ive noticed with similar games ive played. also even if its just skins some people (like me) like collecting everything in games. 100% games has always been a things people like doing. so thats why some people would want those skins even if they might never use them. -
