I have gone through the process of installing substance painter from FileCR and putting my full trust into the website and this nice person who decided to share this with us! Everything worked fine and no virus seems to have been detected.
For those confused of how to acc install the program proprely (as i was), just install the file from the website (i used direct download through a download manager + extension for extra precaution) extract it (using WinRAR or 7zip) and it should automatically make you insert a password which is 123.
Once the file is extracted, you would want to open ''Adobe.Substance.3D.Painter.v11.0.2.Multilingual.iso'' and then install it using the ''autoplay.exe''.

Yea the last time I did this It installed a thousand viruses and apps on my computer and installed Trojan malware

I ran multiple anti malware checks, and I'm still fine so I can ensure if you download it right it's malware-free! ^^
Idk what could be causing the crashing issues, but for me things are smoother & haven't crashed once besides when loading in heavy modified models/ssps.
So it might be a pc ram issues?
