Which avatar creators do you like and dislike?
-
I have a friend whose is an avatar creator. They are super adorable, kindhearted. Have a lot of positive moments with them. I also do support them by purchase their avatars too. Not sure about dislike since I did not meet any negative experience about avatar creators. I would like to hear more stories and opinion about this topic.

I hate content creators that charge insane prices or restrict the use of there assets. Or requiring all "modifications" or "adittions" of something you purchase a commercial licence too, to be a certant price to "promote higher quality modifications ".
A vast majority of models are not worth the prices. Charging 40,80,120$ for a crappy kitbash or recolor is bull and is remonisent of unity asset flips.
A base sculpt with a rig you sell publicly is worth 20$. Not 200. That's comission prices.
Restricting that I can't use the model in other games, or make nsfw modifications to it is BS.
Paying a world maker for access to there pateron, to get a 24 hour timeout for posting a question to there "unity help" channel folowed by a permaban for "pestering staff" by asking a mod what rule i violated gets you a chargeback and all your worlds ripped.
Asking a monthly fee of 100+$ for the passcode to an avi is insanity.
Some creaters are really good. And deserve some respect. A lot just toss up slop and demand top dollar.
I won't name names. But iykyk.

No makers in particular comes to mind but when I see shit like "You can't share the files to your friends even for edits" and forces them to pay more and only to select people for edits, nah, fuck off and suck a dick, I get not allowing to share just to give the avatar, but disallowing friends to do edits for their friend is wild they act like everyone has the time and energy to learn how to make avatars.
I've seen makers not give the files for edits to the buyer and force the buyer to let the maker upload for them and rely on them for updates. Fuck you im ripping that shit they've already paid for so they can update it when avatar systems are changed and breaks them.
Makers that make zero efforts in optimizing their products, you can have an optimized product all while retaining customization features if you just took the time to actually learn how 3d models and avatars actually works which you should be doing if you're gonna be selling them, not just throw assets at it and call it a day.
Any unreasonable ToS, like not allowing edits on their crappy kitbash.
Overpriced garbage, like 10$ for an asset anyone with 3d modelling and texturing basics can make in 10 minutes and of equal if not better quality.
I needed to rant because holy fuck I see alot of stupid garbage out there as the main avatar maker friend of my group.

a lot of the massively popular furry base creators are all the way up their own asses. i also won't name names but i'm sure some came to mind when you read that
@zeta.zaza I am not very familiar with any furry base creators. If you said this then I needed to do some research haha.

Any avatar creator that says they need my account info to upload it to my account themselves. No. A certain FNC creator demands that we give them our info to upload their models, I’m not doing that. “Just change your password afterwards” No, just give me the files

@bennyworm people do this???
@zeta.zaza Yes, they ask for your login information. I almost bought from this said FNC creator but I saw that she,”uploads only” which I can’t STAND that, because if she still has my log in information she can just snatch it up and any point, and it takes the fun out of the avatar when I can’t do edits since I don’t own the files.
I apologize, I didn’t mean to go on a rant, I’ve just seen it happen before with a friend, my friend broke one of the avatar creators rules and the next minute their money was returned to them and the avatar was gone out of their account

a rant for the rant
it's becoming a standard to use ThirdSDK or private uploader services directly for avatars that are in no way representative of their price tag - it's a bit comedic that a lot of the "ToS" or "commercial usage" licensing creators list on their store page doesn't actually come with a verifiable license file, tag, or signature; so they cannot be claimed as legal, original creations unless it's the creator of the kitbashed asset
or how about using systems that obfuscate the meshes? (i think we all know of a pretty prolific one on this site)
which rides the line of privacy, as such scripts have access to your filesystem and ping licensing servers you may not even know existlack of education on the topics, and an abundance of indifference/complacency plague the entire avatar creation community; it's sad that over the years we've allowed it to happen just to see the same asset on 5 avatars released hours after each other

Some sellers only provide uploads and do not offer source files. If my account is suspended or the model is banned, there are additional charges for re-uploading, which is quite frustrating.
