On Over-bumping

@SpookyVersace Why are you attacking me for no reason? I am not prismatism. I've only been here for around 6 months. Why are you even on this discussion? I don't care about anyone else. I just want to be able to scan this forum without being bombarded by bumps. I agree with the author of this post. Is Rae prisma too?

Maybe an auto warning and/or a time out for when a comment is just containing “bump”? As much as id love for users to get their avis, I don’t think they’ll come across a soul who’ll give them the avi or asset they’re looking for just because it’s popular.
Rather, folks will search for assets they already own in the site then see if any users are actively looking for them.

what if it was a system that gave 2 "boosts" (12hr min is fine imo) to the thread and otherwise it's on a cooldown
I can understand the want for a filter, so maybe it could be something that's separate from the thread itself so it avoids clutter?
people should still be able to converse freely so maybe there can be a character minimum and the separate "boost" off to the side
I know people could still just keysmash but idk just throwing out ideas

maybe a way that active threads don't get buried would to have another box similar the Top Topics on the frontpage
and each thread would get a certain amount of time to be on it (maybe an hour or two) and it would rotate through the list of looking for threads and drop threads if they haven't been posted in for a long time (maybe a month)but there's probably too many thread being made for that system to get through one rotation.

@SpookyVersace Um, I'm right here. I'm flattered you still think of me though!

wouldn't be completely opposed to separating the booth and gumroad sides of the forum too - seems like its more of a problem from newbies/one side than the other though
though a minor issue, it is very frustrating to come back to over 100 pings and a good 80% of them aren't anything constructive, just bumps done by the same people - granted i know i can turn off watching posts and just manually check instead of "watching" posts to prevent this, it doesn't stop the issue from occuring

There's alot of people living diffrent lives, in diffrent time zones, and diffrent personality's & understandings, just because u go to bed and come back to 200+ noti isn't as big as a deal than u think it is. People want their stuff they are looking for to be seen, if your higher up, you have a higher chance at being seen. Some people might not be looking for the same things as then hence why they keep bumping their own post alot. You can also watch posts, search for them, etc so i don't, personally, see the problem here besides people complain just to complain when there's other ways to go around their problem. But who am I to say I'm just a "newbie". :3

@mur I mean, I think compartmentalizing the forum lends to better usability too. Separating Booth and Gumroad asset requests may indeed make it easier to navigate, by lessening the load on either, focusing only on an asset group you are interested in. Of course, I have made a lot of requests here in the past, and they haven't been received very well for various, unknown reasons.

@jackalrabbit I like your signature btw.

@PrIsMaTiSm Yeah no I totally get that, that's just upgrading, not taking away anything when u separate booth and non-booth avis!

I love how my posts are still getting downvoted

@CodeAngel Otherwise, a limit of one bump per post per person per week would be a good idea, in my opinion.
-
@PrIsMaTiSm probably because all you do is complain, try to act like a moderator and argue with others. i would downvote you too if i could. hope that helps !

Is it just me or is it odd prism responded to their own comment just to complain about their downvotes several days after the initial conversation? That seems like attention seeking behavior. I feel bad the mods have to deal with that. Maybe prism should work that energy towards something more productive than arguing with strangers online.
As for the over bumping, i agree its a bit of an issue as finding avatars without the search bar is exponentially harder when you have to sort through bump comments to see a DL link (Just an example as not everyone updates their posts when found) but being a noob myself i also understand a lack of knowledge from most new and frequent users on the silent rules of forums and how to use forums properly in general as it differs.
You kinda haveta jump in and figure it out as you go it seems. Not many people use forums nowadays either and each layout is different so it can be confusing switching between sites. Took me a while to figure this site out.I think having a limit on bump comments (like limit it via a filter) or make a bump button for posts to be boosted instead would work. I dont know much about sites and coding so im not sure if itd be easier for them to integrate a filter or a button instead.
Just my Two Cents on it.
