maybe edit the animations of the face? there might be default ones bringing it back to default face
@MameLover
I have a feeling that may be the fix, but I'm actually not sure how to edit the animations.
Do you know how one would do that? -

In ur animator you drag that FX in “controller” once you do that you do ctrl+6 I believe and look through the animations. If it makes the face go to default you can change it to have fangs

it's definitely that there are animations in the FX layer affecting the blendshapes since you mentioned there are toggles that change the face.
what i usually do to fix it is make an animation with keyframes corresponding to all the edit's i've made and then i just copy-paste them to the animation that is affecting the default state. this work with gesture animations that reset the facial features as well.
