since the marketplace isn't worth it to me if I cannot even edit the file. -

@Donut i never seen anyone buy from the marketplace... it seems very pointless for people who know how to use blender and unity and want to customize.. the marketplace would only be worth it for people who don't know how to use unity or blender
@mango I literally JUST met someone who bought an avatar from the marketplace, which makes no sense to me because they have a PC. The only reason I can see it justified is if they're standalone quest with no pc and want an avatar of their "own" that won't get banned/removed/privated or a pc user with a potato pc and no resources or friends to help them upload. EVEN THEN there are plenty of people you can meet in the community who do uploads, help, and teach you how to do it. I've met many people who do it in VR and outside of VR. Google is a thing! Most models I've seen on marketplace you can buy through jinxxy, gumroad, payhip, or booth so I don't see why you'd care unless it was some "exclusive." I heard a lot of authors get paid decently through marketplace and it helps advertise their creations better, so kudos to them, but to me it is a scam because I'd much rather have the actual mesh, assets, fbx to edit and use anyway I want even outside of VRCHAT if I'm going to spend the cost of a video game on an avatar.

@Bluuuu mhm!! I completely agree with you, I'd also too rather have the assets themselves rather than just buying something that might someday just disappear, with files you get to keep them forever but vrchat purchases? Not sure... also with the customization I love customizing my avatars, I know there is some new thing for VRChat of where you can attach accessories but it seems pointless though it could be used for fun but I don't really like the way VRChat has a huge FOMO thing going on with purchaseable items, I rather not have FOMO when assets arrive, that's usually why I just choose not to buy anything from VRChat game at all, just buying assets from sites is better because hey, i get the file and I can customize it however I'd like
But definitely kudos to the creators for getting their models out there, but it's personally not my thing to be buying models from the game itself since I won't even have access to the files from that
