im having issues transferring one piece of clothes from an avatar to the other.

basically there is this avatar and it has several versions. now the meshes are very very similar and i'd like to basically transfer one of the pieces of clothing to the other body mesh, (from avatar 2 to avatar 1)
however when i tried anchoring it to avatar 1 it disappears. ive tried to copy it, paste it outside of the parent, put it underneath avatar 1, tried to anchor it again and still, didnt work. now the reason why i wanna do it like that is because from what ive seen, if i tried to basically import the mesh from blender is that when it moves, the character's bottoms basically clip because of the physics script.
is there an easy way to fix it or a tutorial on yt or somewhere?
