Does anyone else ever get an avatar off here, like and get super excited, and then boom you're really disappointed by the quality / wondering why ppl pay 40-60$ for an avi lol. Or you're just like meh? It doesn't live up to the hype kinda thing?
(Sorry if this is worded weird. I dont wanna cause any arguments at all I'm just genuinely curious)

Yes! That's exactly why I refuse to spend a penny on any avatar at this point, not only because I happen to not have any income cuz I'm a student but cuz creators these days either overprice for horrid quality or just overall no reason or turn out to be horrid people.
I've turned to not trusting a single creator when it comes to quality 'till I see the avatar myself IN VR. (I'm still not buying)
But yeah avatar quality on the market pages tend to be nowhere near how the showcase or toggle video shows. -
Honestly yes I totally get this...it also sucks because a lot of creators (that at least I like) don't bother to make demos that you can test in game to see if you really like it. I feel like pictures don't do some avatars justice. Whole situation also reminds me of being so excited to open presents only to be sad after because ALL of your excitement came from the surprise.

I am suprised people even spend money on gumroad models. The best avatars to get are booth bases which enjoy greater popularity. Models like for example Shinano not only are wonderfully crafted but also can be fitted with a large arrangement of clothing which you simply can't do without advanced blender knowledge with gumroad models because creators there make it difficult to modify anything without spending ludicrous amounts of money for often unoptimized assets too.
Whenever I want to test something I always get it here first. If I enjoy the work and it's easy enough to modify in unity I also consider buying it after. I want to support creators who in my eyes deserve it for their great work but I love the capability of testing it first in detail before losing my money on bad quality. -

@Magsi yeah i wish more was offered??? like ik some avi creators that haev public avi worlds and thats nice but still i cant see myself buying them yk?
@Metafalica booth models are really fucking nice you do have a good point!!! and i understand what you mean tbh, id like to test them then support the creator kinda thing

All the time. Especially for TDA models. I constantly get catfished by them, and I have NO idea why people often want to be such unoptimized menu-cluttered models.
