Hello, this is Gumboisland, the creator of the Gumboy.
I'm not here to scold piracy or preach. I understand the benefit of downloading things online for free, especially for those unable to comfortably afford them. Especially in the cases of large companies (AAA games, old inaccessible roms, etc.) I did want to put a message out to anyone who is interested in the Gumboy, or has enjoyed using it:
I made the Gumboy for the community to enjoy, and I want the most people to enjoy it as possible. That is one reason why I put a fully-featured public avatar with it for people to play with their friends if they are unable to afford it (It is linked on the Gumroad page, or available at Vulthra's booth at FurHub.) The Gumboy is my first asset, and it took 16 months of my own time to develop, and I would love to be able to continue developing advanced games and assets for VRChat. In order to do this, I need to make enough money to support myself along with at least a part-time job, if I had a full time job I wouldn't have time to work on things this advanced.
If you would like to see more complex game-like assets for avatars from me, please consider purchasing the Gumboy or sharing it with other friends who would be interested. I understand not everyone has the expendable income to support creators, so I wanted to provide a few options for anyone who wanted to play the Gumboy in their own avatar:

It's fairly small, it's only meant to be for those who need a SMALL bit of financial help.
