Interested in the community's opinion

A few hours ago I received a message from a lovely user in this forum.

I'm not asking anybody to take any sides here or harass our friend. I'm just asking what the general opinion of the community is regarding these emotional outbursts from other users.

Also I was "threatened", for lack of a better term, with scary Japanese repercussions. To clarify, I misread the part with their friend and I thought that Vlau was shared between both of them after purchase but that was not the case. However I don't understand going the repercussion route when we're equally guilty... Sharing a source with a friend that'll get you pirated assets is not exactly the most guilt free hill to stand on. Our friend also made several posts asking for assets and has probably downloaded a good amount themselves then promptly deleted said posts after sending me those messages..

I will reiterate: unless requested by an admin - asset stays up. I'm not afraid of the Japanese coming after me since I'm from a country where pirating is not illegal so yeah... I don't know what the other option is if the Japanese can't get to me. I'll let our friend waterboard me in VR as punishment but that'll only make me lick my lips with joy.

I'm genuinely interested what the community thinks of this situation. Maybe someone can convince me to take it down, my mind is open. I'll hear everyone out.

Hmm I'm new to the community but I find their point a bit...childish? It happened to me before, bought an expensive item/avatar only to find it at a later date posted in forums and such, it's frustating but there's nothing to be done. We all lift together here and I'm sure they themselves got files here for free that saved them quite a bit of money.
What you said in your last message to them sums it up pretty well, no need to pay that any mind.

That happened to me so many time, like with Xbox gold where I bought things and then end up being free it's so funny to me, but I don't mind if they end up being free cus I pay it for the reason to not only get the product but also to appreciate the creator's work

Okay. So what I am getting from this guys message is he wants to be a unique snowflake and wants the vlau avatar to himself. Which tells me he is a bit touched in the head. The rest of his message is some desperate attempt to exert beta dominance to scare you into getting rid of the post so he can wank off to being the few vlau users.....in his head.

Ignore him. He's probably some 450lb fat fuck trying to get egirl pussy by suppressing the spread of the vlau avatar and has no skill in adding or changing the avatar so he is just a basic bitch

I'm also from somewhere where this is 100% legal so I get your point, although I'm unsure if it still applies if the content creator is from a country where it isn't.. should really look it up lol It's obvious they just want to be unique with their avatar on vrchat and they are now butthurt that others will be using it too without paying while they couldn't.. Sidenote: There is a dark mode option on this site, it's a bit harder to find but you don't need an extention for it ^^

Thanks for the input guys. I think the general consensus is that it was a silly reaction to something minor that the sender had. I hope nobody gives in to this type of emotional bullying.

@_Seraphim_ I doubt they will. There is too many people who share assets. It would be too costy and too much work to fine the thousands upon thousands of people who do this everyday.
