[Release] VRC Avatar Uploader — Desktop GUI + CLI Avatar Upload Tool

VRC Avatar Uploader is now available.

I’m genuinely really excited and happy to finally have something like this to give back to the RipperStore community.

This program was made by two friends that I personally trust, so you don’t have to worry about anything malicious being included in it. We wanted to give this to the RipperStore community so everyone can use it in whatever way works best for them.

Whether you just want an easy GUI for uploading avatars or you’re a developer/mod creator who wants to integrate the uploader into your own tools using the CLI, it’s there for you to use.

Desktop + CLI avatar uploading for VRC, powered by UBZig, with a unified GUI/CLI app and stricter startup safety checks.

What is this?

VRC Avatar Uploader is a merged Avalonia desktop + command-line uploader:

• No arguments launches the GUI.
• CLI arguments launch command-line mode. This is especially useful for mod/tool creators.
• One main executable: VrcAvatarUploader.exe.
• UBZig remains an external runtime dependency (ubzig.exe).

My friend will be posting the rest of the information below, including the download, instructions, features, CLI details, and anything else you need to know about using the program.

• Required companion runtime tool: ubzig.exe
• Keep both files in the same folder.

GUI mode (normal users)

• Double-click VrcAvatarUploader.exe with no arguments.
• Go to Upload page.
• Select your .vrca file.
• Select your avatar image.
• Enter your avatar name.
• Upload.

CLI mode (tool/mod developers)

Direct upload command:

VrcAvatarUploader.exe --vrca "avatar.vrca" --image "avatar.png" --name "Avatar Name"

Interactive console workflow:

VrcAvatarUploader.exe --cli

Force GUI mode explicitly:

VrcAvatarUploader.exe --gui

Troubleshooting

• --vrca
  • Check path and quotes.
• --image
  • Check path and verify file exists.
• Login fails in CLI automation mode
  • Run --force-login interactively first.
• Upload blocked at startup
  • Check here for updated download link

The uploader specifically targets PC SDK3 avatars of unity version 2019 or higher at this time, worlds aren't scoped.

It's just a false positive, it's not obfuscated. Feel free to inspect that it only ever contacts GitHub for version checks and VRC for auth/uploading. I have attached virus total scans for both UBZig public and the uploader GUI/CLI, hopefully false positives go down with time as the executable makes the rounds.

no idea if/how to make the avatars be quest though

@theunknown It lets you upload a VRChat avatar without opening Unity.

You need the avatar’s .vrca file, which is basically the finished/build version of the avatar. Once you have the .vrca, you can upload that avatar to your own VRChat account using the program.

Doesn't it also support VRCA files created in Unity 2019?

I tried this before asking the question, but the game crashed after the avatar loaded

It does, you would've received a prompt asking if you want to proceed and forcefully try promote the shader, leave it as is or cancel the operation. You likely selected force proceed. The unsafe preserve option keeps the shader/avatar in tact but can pose a risk. Join the discord and submit the bundle to me so i can confirm these suspicions.
