LF: Virtual Desktop (Found!)
-

I used Quest Link for four years, but repeated updates caused its quality to decline year after year until it became practically unusable.
I therefore searched for a way to install Virtual Desktop for free, found one, and am sharing it with everyone.
The original download source is a Chinese membership-based website.
The files have been verified to be safe and free of viruses.
For my friend, I translated only the essential information into clear and simple English.
The installation procedure is the same as sideloading an app such as PPSSPP.

About This Tool
Wirelessly connect to your computer to watch movies, browse the web, play games on a giant virtual screen, or stream PCVR games.
Virtual Desktop is a highly optimized native application developed for low-latency, high-quality streaming.
• Your computer must be connected to a 5 GHz AC or AX router using an Ethernet cable
Installation Instructions
Because the PC version of VD has a forced-update issue, many players who were previously able to stream became unable to do so after the PC version was forcibly updated.
You can also manually delete and block the updater included with the PC version of VD, but because some players do not know how to do this, you can now download this bundled version.
First, uninstall the PC version of VD from your computer. The VD standalone headset version on the standalone headset must also be uninstalled beforehand.
First install the Quest standalone headset version (the method will be explained later), and then install the PC version of VD on your computer.
During installation on the computer, there is a checkbox asking whether to install the latest version. Make absolutely sure to uncheck it.
After installation is complete, set and save the username on the computer. You will then be able to connect if the VD icon on the computer is yellow.
If it is gray, you need to check the computer’s network and firewall.
If the PC version of VD is gray, go to the following location:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Edit the hosts file in Notepad, delete all of the several lines inside it relating to blocking VD updates, and then save the file.
█ Operations on the Quest Side
The installation procedure is the same as sideloading PPSSPP and similar applications using SideQuest.
Put the Quest into Developer Mode and connect it by cable to a PC on which SideQuest is installed.
Then copy the following file to the Quest’s Downloads folder or a similar location:Virtual Desktop Quest pre-activated build v1.34.2.0.10605.apk
█ Operations on the Computer Side
After extracting the files, first install “VD PC Version.exe” on the computer, open it, and enter the username.
Be sure to enter the following name:
ZuRiUs
This is because the streaming side requires this username for recognition.
After completing all of the above operations, open the VD software on the standalone headset.
After waiting a few minutes, the computer will appear and you will be able to connect.
You can now enjoy streaming and playing computer games!!!!
