@MeowMixer I'm sorry I'm a random lurker, I was reading through the convo out of curiosity when I saw this and I had to reply as someone who has run an online shop before. You can't track people's IP's just because they bought something off your site. That is like if an offline IRL store decided to keep your credit card info after you bought something from there once: it's illegal. There's no way that person can just track an IP because someone browsed or bought something off the site. The only information that person would see is your username/whatever name you give when you make the purchase, and the email you purchased with. They don't see ur IP, ur card info, ur banking, or anything...

@mikumiku To also add to this, if you purchase from payhip creators could have the following information from you. I don't think this applies if you use a VPN, but if you use paypal it might bypass the VPN anyways.
- SALES TAX (Country/State)
- PayPal - Legal First Name & Last Name (Doesn't apply if you have a business paypal)
- Shipping Address (Can be viewed on paypal transactions if you dont have this disabled/hidden)
- Your Email & Paypal Email (Many people have their IRL name in those)
If you want to stay hidden always use fake emails with fake names, if you use paypal create a business account to hide your personal name. Disable your shipping address, so it won't be shared unless you manually give it to them.
Payhip did show peoples IP at one point, but I believe they removed that option. It was not around for very long. Also IP doesn't = your address, so even if a creator got your IP the most they can do is IP ban you.
Also if you use any BOTS such as a verification bot that links your vrchat account to your discord to gain access to a server, those commonly also log IPs just like double counter. Again always use a VPN, and fake accounts.
Gonso having his script outreach into your browser is a clear breach of privacy, and I don't agree with it at all, and yah in some places its very illegal. This is why I will never be caught by gonso because I have NEVER used, downloaded, or uploaded any model that uses gonso. If anyone wants to degonso I also suggest using a virtual emulator (For a PC) so there isnt any saved data or cache for the script to take from.

I purchased Shiori because I fell in love with the model after finding it on here a couple months ago (it was my first time ever buying a vrc model, and it looks a LOT like a sona I use) but my memory is shit when it comes to the Gonso system that i didn't really recognize it at first until I really thought about it. I use privacy badger, ublock, a password manager, and two vpns on top of each other because i have beef with google, but I can see why people would be bothered even if they use protection

@mikumiku Right! I never really thought much of the gonso system back then, but I still never touched it soley due to the fact they could remove my access to uploading the model at any time. Which I'm glad I did not because of everything thats come out now. I've never heard of privacy badger so Ill need to look into that

@gnarpyy that is true, you have a point. Gonso could be lying about talking to a firm though, we never know. We were also shown no proof of the claims, and the person making the claims to Rae did not give evidence. The burden of proof falls on the claimant.

@gnarpyy oh I didn't even see the middle screenshot, thank you for that gnarpyy. That changes my view quite a bit then. I thought she was only talking about how she was told he was a pred and was looking for evidence but to just run with it even when no evidence was given does not look well in her favor. I did see that last one though so to not connect the dots was idiotic on my part. I admit I haven't exactly read through the entire thread.
I would also like to add that in most avatar sever discords, there is a blacklist channel that gives out people's emails like candy on the blacklist. That isn't right either.

@gnarpyy yea. i did my best to activate professional mode in the discord and inform that things have gone way too far and things need to reeled in. i dont think rae has been in the best mental state but things seriously needed to be reeled in
@meowmei yeah, it has gotten out of hand. I was on board with the whole "fuck gonsos system and privacy invasion bullshit" but then it got into unverified claims that no proof was attached to and I basically had to say sure I'd believe it but I'd also be looking for proof.
I had a feeling saying no, I'd wait till proof was involved wouldn't fly well. I'd like to remind people reading this that I'm not changing what I said because I'm afraid of backlash, I'm not. I'm reiterating that we were dealing with someone who was obviously not mentally stable and those types of situations involve caution.

@gnarpyy yeah they weren't really listening to anyone. I wasn't sure on what to do in that situation, so I'm glad others helped in calling mods/admins to step in seeing as I didn't know how to.

@gnarpyy I'm not sure about the court either. We'll see if it even goes through after this whole debacle. I was all for it at first but after all of that I feel like it'll just make it worse.

@gnarpyy I know what you mean by the sensitive topic, and I do agree its messed up to accuse before proof, im glad we're all being at least somewhat professional with all that has been given, but strawbunny as a older person and a bigger person she should've handled it better and rae shouldn't have blown off like he did but given the context they were put through immense stress due to strawbunnys actions but personally they are both in the wrong but strawbunny did start all of that beef so..yeah

@astronomical agreed. strawbunny is wrong for the multitude of reasons you've listed in your post, gonso was wrong for creating the spyware in the first place, and Rae was wrong for spreading rumors of gonso with no proof.
That said, Rae def didn't deserve what straw did at all, and as much as I don't like gonso, he didn't deserve the allegations with no proof. I just wish there was a better resolution.
