VRChat would rather limit or remove Adult focused content, than raise and enforce the minimum age, 'cause sponsors and younger players (including young adults) are more likely to spend money.
So...any adult featured avatar in a public-like instance is 100% against ToS. Even if covered, hidden, or locked behind requiring a non-existent toggle. so long as "it" (bits or otherwise) exists on your avatar, even a painted asshole covered by non-removable clothes, is against ToS in public instances.
World holding said content must be heavily restricted. I'm not a world creator, I can only guess this is getting harder. Hidden toggles are not enough, simple "everyone" codes are almost not enough. I wouldn't be surprised worlds will soon be treated like avatars.

If you know the creator or can contact them, tell them it's best to just make a new account, change the branding/look of the world name & thumbnail, and re-upload it. That's all that needs to be done and then lay low, and that can be rode out for a while.. hopefully. Depends on if they pissed someone off or not.Low effort in, low effort out. VRChat moderation is extremely low effort.

The only way VR Social Sex can be free of money-thinking, a none central VR system, and/or self hosting servers without central hub governing, much like OG days of pc online multiplayer, like OG Minecraft (java only, non microsoft, days).

Everyone and their mom knows some shit is up in VRChat. There's no hiding it's a bellow-the-bar place to be. Whatever investors would be scared away from that, already have been. VRChat would have to go full-swing authoritarian dictatorship, secret-police crackdown to fix that.
Sex sells, clearly. And there are MANY big players out there cashing in on it. It would be stupid not to, in many cases. Not every rich investor is some evangelical cuck like the mind fucks at collective shout.

Honestly, these are just my estimations. I could be wrong, I would love to know if I am wrong! And there are exceptions here and there to all of this. But-Onto the other point, overflagging of adult content; wwWweeeelllll that's kinda a problem, maybe, yea. But.. moreso just for the world creator getting less outreach and less so for the platform itself. If the people could trust the platform better and not feel unsafe otherwise, then the overflagging wont happen. If it does happen, and VRChat staff doesn't like it.. they can go pound sand. It's still 100x better than exposing minors to adult content.
I see most people who are adults have already age verfied, where I roam at least.. So there is that at the very least.Decentralization is great but has some obvious downsides, or at least hurtles to clear with.. global content access! Something somewhere has to be centralized, somehow. The real key to freedom is the whole thing being open source. No gatekeeping, no single castled-up authority, just We The People.
And that, I think, is what we are working to achive here. If there is a will there is a way, and I belive we can take what's ours and enjoy it, despite what they have to say about it. -

They already have an age verification system in place, albeit an imperfect oneβI've heard of users bypassing it with fake IDs. The logical step would be to restrict NSFW worlds: only allow verified users to create them and require all joiners to be verified as well. While these worlds might not get much visibility, that won't stop adult users who are actively looking for them anyway. Frankly, it feels like the VRChat team is just lazy or incompetent. They're trying to please everyone and make money from both sides, but they're just alienating both communities.

You have to accept some level of imperfect, on a systemic scale. No age gating system will be perfect, there will be bypasses. The point, legally, is to make a reasonably effective effort to stop minors from wandering into exposure to sexual or overly graphic content.
If they go hacking systems, actively PUSHING hard to gain access to that content, the blame should fall on the parents (finally, smh.)I've been thinking and theory crafting more, and... personally, I think VRChat's actions- that are seemingly entirely anti-NSFW but also contradictory- are all just to avoid a potentially game-ending lawsuit.
Laws everywhere have recently been putting more and more pressure on the companies to do the parents job (unfortunately,) and failure to comply could mean regional restrictions, payment processors block them (also not okay but different topic,) or they get their ass handed to them in court and lose everything in an instant.That said, they've done enough, or very nearly enough, to comply with these laws, but their solution is half-baked.
It will likely be that way until their focus turns back around to it. -

Creator of MMD @ Midnight. I don't really care if you guys share the codes and all - I'm not doing it to make money and there isn't a paywall. With all the AI/VRC bans going on, I'm keeping this mostly on the downlow, especially since Gentlemen's club got deleted.Also, it's still a work in progress and I've changed the pw after every update. I'm fine if you hear the code via word of mouth (it wont be by me), but this is also the reason why Gentlemen's got taken down and is now private.
It may come to the point where I decide to take down all the hidden songs and remove the passcode so the world is "safe". What you do in the world is another discussion, one that doesn't concern me.
Honestly, if VRChat made it so you could set a published world to only be age-gated (as in no other option), I would put it out there with no passcode
