You don't need any tacky tricks, you can get these kinds of results by using the default vrchat camera, as long as you adjust the focus correctly, preferably use a world with some post processing to make the most of your shaders, then edit the photos in lightroom or photoshop to compliment the photo as much as possible (if necessary).

I find that adjusting the aperture completely manual will give you the best result because it gives you full control of the result.
