you werent blacklisted for editing the avatar, it does say on the description that the fbx itself cant be edited, but unity edits are possible, you were blacklisted for leaking licenses/packages

@irawryou believe me, i know you did. btw, confusey dont just blacklist people for editing their avatars. The only people confusey blacklists are people who's licenses are tagged as shared (aka someone else tried to use your license, aka they got your license, aka you gave them their license/package)

@BaldurPorta A good chunk of your recent replies on this forum are defending Gonso and its creator.

@taikeru i just saw the post with latitia you referenced and holy crap. "people who steal will have their families killed." what the absolute fuck is wrong with that person? i've never seen anything like that in my life. what an awful thing to say over pixels. do idiots like that not realize this just makes me want to do it more? to pray on their downfall and aid in it? what an awful person. you know what has stuck with me since the day i learned about it? there is a game called ultrakill, and the developer learned of a user who made a post about pirating his game and playing it for free. you know what he said?

"as creator of said game: you should support indies if you can, but culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it. ultrakill wouldn't exist if i hadn't had easy access to movies, music and games growing up.

if you don't have money, you can support via word of mouth."
              ー https://x.com/HakitaDev/status/1797245014268891236

he didn't get angry. he didn't degrade. he understood not everyone can pay for his game and thanked the user for playing his work. vrchat avatars are bottom of the barrel. it isn't a game a team of people spent months or years on. it isn't a job. it's pre-made assets put together in a matter of a few days by a person with the thought of money in mind. you know how much ultrakill is? like $12 usd. meanwhile most avatars are $25+ usd. and yet creators wonder why we lose respect for them and do what we do. they have no shame. they don't bother to try to understand. they just take and take from you and your wallet if you let them.

@kitten I'm this way about Torinyan. Tori themself actively use this website, and actively share their models (I've seen Runa/Ruruh/Raruh posted officially from them, or handed off to others so that they can share them) and their message that they used to share them was something along the lines of..

"You filthy little pirates ;3 I understand why you guys do what you do, and if I'll be honest, there's nothing I can really do to stop you. All I ask is that if I have a sale going, please refrain from leaking anything until after the sale period ends. I can provide (some odd user/themself) with a (code/link) to the model so that you guys can have an updated version of the avatar at all times. I understand that if you could pay for these models, that you likely would, and I would sincerely appreciate it if you guys could just not leak stuff until after sale periods!"

I've uninstalled Unity Hub/Unity Editors and can no longer help :( I just can't justify the costs of spending time doing this anymore.

the huge part of this message from Tori is "I understand that if you could pay for these models, that you likely would..." - and I think that applies to a very large portion of the community that shares models

creators in this space need to understand that without vrchat doing anything directly to protect the user-generated content they take advantage of, leaking/redistribution will always exist

while every creator has a different skillset and skill level, it always does seem to be the creators who manage a new vrchat avatar every other week that have the most explosive or negative responses to leaking - those who have accepted that it will happen regardless are probably more confident the quality of their products is high enough that they can cut the losses of leaking

it doesn't apply to every creator, and there are some people who rip/leak for selfish benefit, but I do think vrchat avatars work in the same way as any other software - the higher quality ones will be able to survive despite being shared underground because they simply are representative of the $40 price tag

slight rant, but too many egotistical creators exist and it's an absolute shitshow to know so many of them in this post are just that bad o7
