TLDR: Server for hanging and for me to offer free avatar commissions. https://discord.com/invite/rFdedDBv2s

Recently I've got into avatar creation and this forum as well as vrmodels has helped me alot with building my passion for avatar creation, specifically for making avatars for other people and I thought I could give a bit back as well as making some friends while I'm at it.

Therefore I've decided to launch 'Truly No Identity Productions' a server I made for people can talk, hang, and for me to offer my avatar creation service...now about that giving back, I plan on "making" avatars for people for free both for me to expand my skills to see people's imagination come to life, currently I only do Novabeasts but I plan to expand my scope after practicing some more. I will be slow on making these avatars probably a week or two at a time but it's mainly for those who don't know how to make avatars or are unable to, I can also teach people how to make avatars if anyone wants.

After all that talk here's the link (https://discord.com/invite/rFdedDBv2s), it is a new server but I hope that you guys can make it a bit more homey.

    Truly No Identity Productions.

This reminds me of... well, me. I did basically the exact same thing as you, except I made my server after getting a shitload of commission work for avi edits. Just dont start asking for money cause you'll EASILY get burnt out from commission work. Its what killed avi creating for me cause I realized I wasnt enjoying it.

@j0xged3 Thanks for the advice and yeah, burn out is crazy; I only plan on accepting avatars on the bases of if I want to do it that's why I did it free so that I won't feel forced by money to make avatars.

@NoFace Understandable. Altho, if you learning at the pace I am, I can give you some tips.

First, learn to make a toggle. It'll literally apply to everything you make. If you can toggle an object, you can toggle anything.

Second, learn contacts. They're just funny hitboxes that activate something. Like a boop or a headpat contact. All the animations have to be is a default state and the animation your avatar does when the contact is touched. Its just a toggle with extra steps, basically.

Third, learn how to fix avatars. Some avis are just built broken or incomplete. I learned most of my unity stuff from the thighyeenid by thine, which you can find here. There's a lot of things broken with it that are subtle, but there's also the fact that you cant properly port it to the latest sdk. However, if you find how to do that like I did, you can basically fix any model lmao. Took me awhile to figure out and I wrote a tutorial for it in the comments, but idk if its actually digestible or not.

Finally, learn how to add clothing onto your avatars that dont fit. You'd use something like blender for this (I link the 3.5 version so you can use CATS with it). I found a very useful video for it that simplifies the entire process, but its also somewhat bad if you care about warping. There's also the issue of having to reconstruct the entire avatar from scratch, but its a good start. Here's the video that I found. If you dont know the slightest about blender, I suggest the donut tutorial for general controls and tool usage.

Dont really have to follow this exactly, but I wanted to share my knowledge to you so you can simplify the process of making avatars instead of watching extremely complicated 45 minute videos on adding GoGoLoco. Best of luck to you!

make sure to updoot the uploaders!

@j0xged3 I already know how to do 1, 2, and 4; and I basically know how to do 3 by just trying to deal with unity; and btw and I know that you didn't saying that trying to be rude but just because someone is learning to make avatars doesn't mean they don't know how to do anything, here is an avatar that I have already made which includes many of those things except contacts because I made it with the objective of being quest compatible and Quest really dumbs down alot of what you can do with an avatar; the stuff that I wanted to practice more about making avatars is more towards texture creation, model editing, and assets fitting for avatars, which although I have a good idea of how to do I want to have more practice with; so thanks for the advice but what I need right now is more practice and strengthening what I already know.

@NoFace Fair enough, but you never know now-a-days. People progress differently than others, and sometimes when someone's "new" to avatar creating, they usually mean they just uploaded an avatar from here or VRModels. Usually if you know most of that stuff, you're more advanced than the normal user, so I kinda just assumed you didnt know most of that stuff lol. But yeah, you should probably strengthen what you already know.

Server has been updated a bit for new members and added channels for helping each other with avatar creation.

Since I haven't been getting much custom commissions I decided to start uploading avatars/bases publicly in vrchat so if there are any that you want post them in the channel I made and I'll get to them when I can.
